Revive & Thrive builds on the experience and outcomes of previous initiatives in the field of youth participation and community development, particularly the RESCUE project. Across many communities, especially in urban and rural areas, abandoned or underutilised public spaces remain a missed opportunity for social interaction, youth engagement, and local development. At the same time, young people—especially those with fewer opportunities and NEETs—often face limited access to meaningful participation, skills development, and pathways to active citizenship.
Revive & Thrive was created to respond to these challenges by placing young people and youth workers at the centre of community-led transformation processes. By combining non-formal education, digital innovation, and hands-on civic action, the project supports young people in becoming active contributors to their local environments.
The project is implemented within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme, under Capacity Building in the Field of Youth, and is carried out by a transnational consortium of organisations from six countries: Greece, Turkey, Jordan, Estonia, Egypt, and Tunisia. These countries share common challenges related to youth disengagement, social exclusion, and the lack of accessible, safe, and inclusive public spaces, while also bringing diverse expertise in youth work, education, research, and community development.
Revive & Thrive operates at the intersection of youth work, non-formal education, civic participation, and sustainable urban and rural development. Through international cooperation, research-based approaches, innovative digital learning tools, and capacity-building activities, the project strengthens both local action and transnational knowledge exchange.
Revive & Thrive aims to generate sustainable impact at individual, community, and organisational levels. Youth workers will enhance their mentoring, pedagogical, and digital competences, enabling them to better support young people in civic initiatives. Young participants will develop skills related to active citizenship, teamwork, creativity, and entrepreneurship, while gaining practical experience through the revitalisation of public spaces.
At community level, the project will contribute to the transformation of abandoned or neglected spaces into inclusive and functional community hubs, fostering social cohesion and local engagement. At a broader level, Revive & Thrive will strengthen cooperation between youth organisations, local authorities, and stakeholders, promote innovative digital learning practices, and ensure that project results remain accessible as open educational resources beyond the project’s lifetime.
